Geneva II organizers would not accept realities of Syria

TEHRAN, Jan. 8 (MNA) – Head of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has said Geneva II is doomed.

Mansour Haghighatpour told Mehr News today that Geneva II conference on Syria was doomed, since the organizers of the conference would not accept the realities of Syria.

He also denounced John Kerry’s remarks about Iran’s role in Geneva II. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has a prestige of its own and being in the fringes is not compatible with this

prestige,” he added, “we are capable of changing the developments in the region, and need not to attend Geneva II conference.” John Kerry, US Secretary of State had said that Iran could wield impact on Syrian developments even without participating in Geneva-2 conference.

“They should invite us to attend the Geneva. When they welcome our foreign minister with red carpets, then we would accept to attend the conference,” Haghighatpour asserted.
